On average it takes about 20 minutes from making an initial emergency '999' call for an ambulance, armed with the means to keep a heart attack victim breathing & the heart beating, to arrive at a doorstep in the Kineton area. If that means could be reduced and be with a patient in 7 or 8 minutes, a life may have been saved. Our Heart Start scheme endeavours to achieve just that in Kineton & the surrounding areas by the use of trained local residents called 'First Responders'.
One of the biggest premature killers in this country is heart failure, caused all too frequently because people suffering a heart attack fail to get correct first-aid treatment soon enough to prevent the attack culminating in death.

Through the generosity of many sponsors & local fund raising events the following has been achieved:

  • We have bought a Defibrillator & all the other equipment necessary.

  • Local residents have been trained & accessed by the Warwickshire Ambulance Service to use the equipment & are now 'First Responders'.

  • A committee has been formed to run the scheme.

  • Rotas have been drawn up from the volunteers to take their turn at being 'on-call'.

Yes, we are up & running.

If you are interested in getting involved or you'd just like to know more about the scheme, then please contact Kineton Heart Start via email.
